There is nothing quite like a Girls Night Out and that is what some of the SoCal Lady Bloggers did on Sunday night at the Nail Garden salon in Valencia, California. The Nail Garden was kind enough to offer us all complimentary manicures and Velvet Cupcakes provided the treats for the evening.
The Nail Garden opened it’s first salon in 2008 at the Sherman Oaks Fashion Square and has since grown to 5 locations and 2 franchises throughout the Los Angeles area, with more being added. The staff are some of the nicest and most qualified technicians I have come across in all my years of getting manis and pedis. The salon does natural nails, gel nails and acrylic nails and can handle all the drama and bling you want. They do an amazing gel manicure and their matte nails are gorgeous. Make sure you go early and spend some time looking through their vast collection of polishes.
It was almost impossible to decide. In the end, we all chose completely different colors and styles.
We were also fortunate to have Velvet Cupcakes, a neighbor of the Nail Garden, provide us with their delectable cupcakes.
Each day they bake different flavors so make sure to visit their website to learn what flavors they are selling the day you go.
The inside of the store is just as gorgeous as the cupcakes.
From November 25 – December 18, the Nail Garden is holding their 3rd Annual Holiday Toy Drive benefitting Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA. If you donate a new, unwrapped toy, book, game or DVD (ages 3 months to 18 years) to any of the Nail Garden locations, you will receive 15% off any service as a thank you for your donation.
And as a thank you to our readers and members, Nail Garden is offering us a 15% OFF discount through the end of 2013. Just mention SOCAL LADY BLOGGERS at ANY of the Nail Garden salons throughout Los Angeles to receive the discount. (Can’t be combined with the Toy Drive discount.) Please feel free to share the discount with YOUR readers as well.
If you haven’t seen Free Birds, it’s really cute. I might have fallen asleep for part of the second half, but I woke up in time to see the end and the end was really good. It’s kind of like celebrating Thanksgiving. You enjoy the beginning of it, then you kind of drift off towards the end.
Whether you are cooking or traveling next week, we all have at least one Thanksgiving story that will become fodder for all Thanksgivings the rest of your life. Was it a family incident? A food incident? Or did Uncle Bob have a little too much to drink and ended up spilling all the family secrets?
We want to hear your stories. Feel free to post something old or new or in between. Something funny, something silly, something just plain horrible. Link up those posts.
November is in full swing and the holidays are right around the corner. The malls seem busier, the traffic seems heavier and hey… it’s dark at 5pm.
During the chilly SoCal mornings, grab a hot cup of coffee or tea and take some time to catch up on your blog reading.
First of all… HAPPY NOVEMBER!
If it’s November 1st, that must mean last night was HALLOWEEN! We hope it was fun and safe for everyone. Now admit it… what candy are you stealing from your kids’ trick-or-treat bags?
We want to see your photos and posts from the great holiday of Halloween! Pics of you, pics of your kids, pics of decorations… and of course, any themed posts you have done. Linky will be up all week, so if you plan on writing up that post over the weekend, you can still link it up then.
One more thing… this weekend is daylight savings time. Set your clocks BACK one hour. And if you want… wait until Monday morning… and be happy that you can go back to sleep for an extra hour.
It’s the last weekend before Halloween… who’s excited? It’s also the last weekend in October and that’s a little hard to believe.
I know everyone has some awesome posts they want to share and we can’t wait to get caught up with them all.
It’s finally fall in SoCal!
We’re working on some really fun ideas for link-ups that we’ll be sharing soon, but we want to know… what are YOUR ideas? We’d love for everyone to participate since the more we get to know each other, the better friends we all become. And who couldn’t use a few more friends?
So… link up your best post from this past week, and take a look at a few of the other links. They’ll be up all week.
Happy Friday! Show us what you’ve got!
Leave a link, visit a link. That’s the way we do it around here.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Let’s face it… if you are a blogger, you are already way overloaded with work and home and family and school and whatever else is on your plate. It’s the rare person who can manage it all and make it look easy. In fact, I don’t really know anyone who manages it all and makes it look easy. It’s not easy… but we can all learn how to set goals and get better organized so we aren’t going bat-shit crazy trying to get it all done.
You CAN have it all… just not all at the same time. Melissa Reyes, a Certified Life Coach (and SCLB Member), is going to share her tools for coping with the day-to-day when we just feel like we’re falling further and further behind.
- Set realistic goals for blogging, family, work, etc.
- Make a plan to complete goals and tasks without getting overwhelmed.
- Learn about mind-mapping.
- Get yourself organized once and for all.
This is a fully hands-on workshop where you will actually walk away with an individual plan to implement right away. Come ready to WORK!
And… because it’s a SoCal Lady Bloggers event… there will be LUCH! We can’t work on an empty stomach, right?
